I'm back...................

Sat Aug 18, 2012, 5:20 PM
Thank you for past kind comments and faves, most encouraging.

Well, we've been back from the very long holiday for three weeks now. It's taken two of those weeks to get my jobs in the Oatley 101 Society of Artists up to date.

And it's taken all of these three weeks for the jet lag to wear off and to start sleeping normally!!!
I have just started my first painting from the trip...........a house in the Tuscan hills with poppies and will upload it as soon as it's finished.

I must say, although the holiday to Europe was great, we visited five countries in all, it's great to be home ..................to our bed and shower especially!

It's winter here, which is strange because when we left, at the end of April, it was still warm and still only the beginning of Autumn. In Europe, it was Summer and light for hours. Here, it's dark by six thirty and cold. But it's sunny during the days, lovely crisp winter days, not too cold during the day.

Well, can't stay too long writing, must get back to work, a painting is calling me.......................................

Your works are absolutely stunning and lots of dedication to detail for each artwork :o simply something that became my inspiration but just a question... What made you choose or dedicate yourself to the art style of realism?

Hello Carl, I have always worked in this style. Even as a child. It's like handwriting really.......the way you write, you don't change, so that is how it is with how I paint. I have always admired realist painter, even though, at art school when we went to our local art gallery, I was told not to keep looking at the Victorian, Pre Raphaelites and Dutch still lifes...........with the bloom and drops of water on the grapes.
Needless to say.........I dropped out of that art school and continued with my style and still looked at fine realistic works.
As I have got older, I have refined my style, and some still criticize me for it.
I feel you have to be true to yourself and your art.

I notice on your page you have "Dream high, aim high".........I do so agree with you.
And thanks for the Watch, very much appreciated.

The way you paint water is amazing! The only water I am semi-proud of that I have painted is on my "Lighthouse" painting. Not to sound creepy but...watching you ;p
